The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Universitas Sebelas Maret was officiated based on the Decree of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 0297/0/1996 of October 1st, 1996. The opening of this faculty was based on the consideration or the purpose to develop science, technology, and/or arts as well as to prepare the human resources with academic ability in the field of basic sciences as the doers of the national development.
