UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta graduated 1,234 students from Doctoral, Master, Specialist Doctor, Undergraduate, and Diploma Programs in Period 1 Graduation Ceremony 2022, Saturday (26/2/2022). The graduation was held online through the Zoom Meeting and YouTube UNS streaming.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Members of UNS Board of Trustees; Chairman, Secretary, and Members of UNS Academic Senate; Chairman, Secretary, and Members of UNS Board of Professors, University Executive Boards, Faculties, Postgraduate School, and Vocational School UNS.
Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., reported that 585 students graduated with cum laude honor, 34 from Postgraduate School, 13 from FIB, 31 from FISIP, 34 from FH, 24 from FEB, 60 from FK, 50 from FP, 39 from FT, 170 from FKIP, nine from FKOR, 20 from FMIPA, eight from FSRD, and 93 from Vocational School.
In his opening remark, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, shared the title for each program, Doctor for doctorate program graduates, Master for master program graduates, specialist for Specialist Doctor Program, Bachelor for the undergraduate program, Applied Bachelor for Diploma IV program, and Diploma for Diploma III program. “UNS hoped that your competencies could be used for the nation and state, and (you) could work hard, well, and responsible in upholding the name of our almamater,” the Rector stated.
Prof. Jamal added that the online graduation ceremony started due to the pandemic has become a new tradition for universities. Similarly, with the virtual interaction that people have grown adapted to. Thus, it is expected that the graduates could be adaptive to the current changes. “I am optimistic with the sincerity of our intention; universities will be able to become a home for the growth of nation’s potentials who will master the future Indonesian’s civilization,” Prof. Jamal added. Before concluding his remark, Prof. Jamal also thanked and appreciated the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Hj. Ida Fauziyah, M.Si., who had motivated the graduates through her speech. The Rector also thanked students’ parents for trusting UNS to educate their children.
Dr. Yusuf Saefudin, as the representative of the students, delivered a speech on how the two years of the pandemic has changed the life of many, including students who were demanded to stay patient during their process, and today the dream was achieved. “We have a new title and new responsibility. This graduation marked our success in completing our studies. Thus, I represent all graduates, thank all parties who have helped us through our journey as students,” he stated.
In her scientific speech, the Menaker RI, Ida Fauziyah, stated that graduation is not the end of the fight but a start of a journey to find life reality and as a step to deliver knowledge that they acquired for the community, nation, and the country. “As the Minister of Manpower, I welcome all the graduates who will enter the job market after this graduation,” Ida Fauziyah stated. The Minister also hoped that UNS graduates could become entrepreneurs and the country in waiting for their contributions. Humas UNS
