UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has implemented a new policy, namely holding graduation ceremony once a month. This decision will begin at the Period III Graduation in May 2023.
This was based on Circular Letter Number 1683/UN27/WA.00.00/2023 concerning the circular schedule for UNS graduations. The results of the University Leadership Work Meeting (RKPU) on Wednesday (26/4/2023) decided that graduation would be held every month. UNS provides a quota of 800 graduates each month to carry out graduation ceremony.
Currently, UNS has set a graduation schedule for periods III and IV. Period III graduation will be held on May 27, 2023. Meanwhile, period IV graduation will be held on June 24, 2023. The graduation ceremony for the following period will be scheduled through the academic calendar 2023/2024.
“The graduation schedule for the next period will be included in the academic calendar2023/2024,” Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S. explained as Plt. UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs in the circular letter.
This was well received because many prospective graduates registered for each graduation period. They often do not get a quota in the nearest period. So that prospective graduates have to wait for the next graduation period.
A student from the Faculty of Psychology UNS, Farah Fauziyah, expressed her response to the enactment of this new policy. According to her, the implementation of monthly graduation can reduce the number of graduates which is over capacity.
“My response is that I am waiting for the graduation ceremony is really good. Waiting for the graduation ceremony for two months is quite a long time, moreover I’ve had an examination since February. It can reduce the number of graduates who are over capacity too,” Farah said when contacted by uns.ac.id, Friday ( 5/5/2023).
Previously, UNS had a policy of holding graduation every two months. In April 2023, UNS held the second period graduation with 1,022 graduates offline and online at the Auditorium G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS. Humas UNS
