UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta student won another national level competition. This time a student from Indonesia Language and Literature Program (Sasindo), Pradana Ricardo or Ricard won the 3rd position in the opinion writing competition held by Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian Yogyakarta-Magelang.
The competition took “Millennial Agricultural Culture” as the theme, which focuses on the agriculture and agricultural technology used in the present time. Although the theme is not in line with his study, Ricard said that he is enthusiastic about participating in the competition. He even stated that the theme encouraged him to continue working.
“This competition is very different from Ricard’s educational background. Thus, it makes Ricard encouraged to learn and understand the agricultural condition in Indonesia. What are the issues and what solution could be offered using Ricard’s knowledge,” Ricard explained in an interview with uns.ac.id team.
By participating in the competition, Ricard expands his knowledge to the new fields and deeper comprehension about the world condition. Despite facing challenges with the theme, Ricard stated that he wanted to develop his abilities in writing, both scientific and popular writing.
The hard work paid off when Ricard was announced as the 3rd winner by the judges, excelling other participants from 30 universities in Indonesia, such as Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Syiah Kuala Aceh, and Polbangtan Manokwari. Not to mention that the theme is completely new for Ricard.
“Honestly, Ricard is delighted and did expect (to win). The different field of study makes Ricard pessimistic in the beginning. Moreover, other participants have a background in the field. Ricard is very grateful for this achievement,” Ricard concluded.
The competition that Ricard participated in has three stages. Registration started on 26 June to 11 July 2021, assessment on 12–14 July 2021, and online announcement of the winners. Humas UNS
