This event was the opening of a series of Independent Entrepreneur Programs that will be held by UNS together with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). This program aims to make the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) a success.

Registration for the UNS Independent Entrepreneur SEMESTA program is currently open from 19 June to 10 July 2023. The UNS Independent Entrepreneur SEMESTA program is open to all students from both UNS and other campuses.

The 2023 UNS Independent Entrepreneur SEMESTA program socialization event was held online starting at 19.00 WIB. It was attended by 151 participants from the UNS academic community and the general public. The activity began with remarks by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS.

Prof. Yunus officially opened the program so that it could run properly. Besides that, Prof. Yunus representing the UNS leadership also ensured that he would provide full support and facilities for the development of entrepreneurship aimed at these students.

“The Independent Entrepreneur Program is part of the Independent Campus program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, of course with the aim to provide opportunities for students to have hands-on experience and learn about entrepreneurship. The Independent Entrepreneur Program collaborates with program-implementing universities, one of which is UNS, that received valuable opportunity to be appointed as one of the organizers,” Prof. Yunus said.

Dila Maghrifani S.E., B.Sc., M.Sc, as the moderator and the UNS Independent Entrepreneur team continued the discussion session with the three speakers namely Khresna Bayu Sangka, Ph.D., Catur Sugiarto, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., that they are as the team of SEMESTA Independent Entrepreneur 2023 and also Nabilah Nursabrina Candraningtyas as Ambassador of the Student Freedom Campus from UNS.

The first material was delivered by Khresna Bayu, Ph.D., as the Chief Executive of the Program to welcome potential participants of the SEMESTA Independent Entrepreneur 2023.

“There are three main stages. They are Pre-immersion, Immersion, and Post-immersion. The process of running this program is based on the startup incubation concept that has been carried out by the UNS incubator in the last two years. Besides that we also bring the concept of ‘SEMESTA’ which means Sebelas Maret Startup Academy as Branding for the Independent Entrepreneur Program held by UNS. We have prepared the best curriculum and materials for prospective young Indonesian entrepreneurs,” Khresna said.

The second material was followed by a Sharing Session delivered by Nabilah Nursabrina Candraningtyas. Nabilah shared her successful experience in participating independent entrepreneur activities in the previous year. In addition, Nabilah also shared her experiences with other participants while undergoing the independent entrepreneur program.

“Participants will complete case studies directly faced by entrepreneurs. There are interesting stories that I heard from fellow participants, for example my friend sells white rats. I was surprised to find that he could get a turnover of IDR 30 million a month. The market is students of medicine and pharmacy,” Nabila said.

The third material was delivered by Catur Sugiarto, Ph.D., who presented on the technical aspects of SEMESTA Independent Entrepreneurial registration. Catur provides an explanation of the requirements and what students need to register for this activity. UNS is one of the organizers of independent entrepreneurs. According to him, this program will have a big impact on national economic development.

“Some of the requirements for participants who are allowed to join this program are active D2, D3, D4, S1, S2, and S3 students at PTN/PTS under the coordination of the Kemendikbudristek where for diploma/undergraduate students at least semester 3 can be recognized as 20 credits. In mean time, S2 and S3 cannot be recognized,” Catur explained.

Furthermore, there were several additional explanations delivered by the Head of the Center for Entrepreneurship Development (PPKwu) LPPM UNS, Dr. Susantiningrum. “Regarding best practice in the Office Administration Education Study Program, it provides recognition of 24 credits, such as in leadership, taxation, entrepreneurship, foreign trade, and others,” Dr. Susantiningrum said.

In closing, one of the UNS Independent Entrepreneur Team members, Agus Dwi Priyanto, S.S., M.CALL., guarantees that being a young entrepreneur does not have to leave behind hard skills that must be obtained through college. Agus still reminded, before registering for this program, please inform the academic supervisor to ask for entrepreneurial advice that is closer to the core business in each study program. “Of course we need creative ideas in running a business and there is no need to worry,” he concluded.
