UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received another international recognition from a global institution. This time, UNS is awarded a 4-star category (very good) from the QS STAR. This achievement improved from the 3-star award earned in 2015. QS STAR is a service from QS Quacquarelli Symonds for high education institutions assessment with more extensive criteria than the QS World University Rankings assessment. The QS STAR enables an assessed university to identify its areas of strength and areas of weakness.

In the QS STAR assessment methodology, there are 4 (four) categories used, namely core criteria, specialist criteria, learning environment, and advanced criteria. The core criteria consist of 5 (five) aspects, namely teaching, employability, internationalization, research, and academic development. Meanwhile the learning environment, the assessed university can choose one of two aspects, namely facilities or online learning. For specialist criteria, universities can choose between subject ranking or programs’ strength. As for the advanced criteria, there are two out of four indicators required, namely innovation, social responsibility, inclusiveness, and art & culture.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, said that in this 2022 assessment, UNS in overall obtained 4-star ratings. “The highest score, a 5-star, is on the employability indicator measured by the graduates’ reputation voted by employers, graduates’ employability level, and career support activities carried out by the university. These results indicate that UNS graduates are highly employable and have an excellent reputation according to employers,” said Prof. Jamal, Saturday (28/5/2022).

Prof. Jamal also appreciates this extraordinary achievement. Of course, this result is inseparable from UNS academic members’ contributions. “This achievement is possible due to the contribution and the result of the hard work and intelligent work of the entire UNS academic members. Moreover, the QS-STAR assessment process is quite long with a thorough audit and analysis process,” he said. Humas UNS
