UNS — A Student Community Service (KKN) Team from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta assisted the local people in Kampung Iklim Program (Proklim) (Climate Program at Hamlet Level) in Losari Hamlet, Semanggi Village, Pasar Kliwon, Surakarta. The assistance was provided for a month from February 2022.
KKN UNS Group 49, led by Megadita Ayuningtyas and Prof. Venty Suryanti as their field supervisor, explained that the assistance aimed to help the local community support Proklim 2022.
“Together with RW 3 Losari Hamlet people, we worked together preparing the environment for Proklim this year. We managed collective work each week with the local community. We also provided supporting facilities such as handwashing tools, dustbin, family medicinal plants, and painting murals to provide a beautiful environment,” Mega explained on Sunday (20/2/2022).
Proklim is a program held by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to mitigate climate change. This program includes adaptation and mitigation.
“The mitigation efforts that we took also included trash and waste management and socializing electric saving program. The peak of Proklim event will be held on 24 February 2022,” she added.
Prof. Venty Suryanti as the field supervisor for the team highly appreciated the program and stated that she was proud of Group 49 KKN UNS January-February 2022.
“This group took an active role in assisting Losari Hamlet in Kampung Iklim Program. Climate change could harm the ecosystem. Hopefully, local people in Losari Hamlet, Semanggi Village could adjust themselves with the climate change impact sustainably,” Prof. Venty stated.
The Chief of RT 2 RW 3, Sartono, also hoped that this assistance could encourage the community to apply various programs offered by the students.
“Hopefully, the KKN UNS students could become an example for the community to apply healthy and clean lifestyle, also to maintain the surrounding community,” Sartono hoped. Humas UNS
