UNS — A team of Student Community Service Program (KKN) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a gymnastics and socialization of Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) in Cabeyan Village, Bendosari, Sukoharjo District. The program was conducted on Sunday (20/2/2022) in Cabeyan Village Hall, collaborating with Sukoharjo District Narcotics Office (BNK). The program aims to educate the community on the danger of narcotics abuse.
The program was opened with collective gymnastics, followed by P4GN socialization and games for the participants. The program was attended by karang taruna members and Cabeyan local people, with Garis Subandi from BNK Sukoharjo as speaker. The socialization was also attended by Cabeyan Village Chief, Sugiyono, who emphasized the importance of knowledge regarding drugs abuse for the young generation in his opening remark. “So far, there is no drug abuse in Cabeyan Village, meaning that the family has become a preventive measure in this case,” Sugiyono stated to uns.ac.id, Wednesday (2/3/2022).
Garis Subandi or Bandi shared information on the definition of narcotics, its types, the marks of people abusing it, and the long-term and short-term effect of drug abuse. Bandi considers that the socialization program is needed to inspire the community in campaigning for the P4GN.
“This kind of activity needs to be held not only in a special moment, but also need to be held in schools, families, and other groups to improve comprehension and enable people to fight together against drug abuse,” he added.
The materials shared by Bandi received positive feedback from the participants. Rijal, one of the participants, stated that the community needs to be aware of the issues because it affects both the older and young generations. Thus, the program offered by Team 114 is a form of UNS students’ concern and participation in preventing drug abuse. Although there is no drugs abuse case in the village, Nova Arif Kurniawan, as the Team Leader, considers that socialization is needed to prevent and expand people’s awareness. Nova hoped that the program could serve as the basis for the community in preventing drug abuse in their environment.
“Hopefully, the knowledge from this socialization could benefit all participants. From the principle of prevention, young generation potentials, parents’ sensitivity towards behavioral changes, and the development of their children,” Nova stated. Humas UNS
