UNS – In accordance with a purpose of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) in forming educated and high-quality human resources, students incorporated in Sebelas Maret University (UNS) LPDP Scholarship Awardee Union organized a voluntary coaching program for one of local learning posts in Jebres, Surakarta. LPDP is one of Indonesian prestigious fully-funded scholarships under the management of Ministry of Finance, thus committed to embody a youth generation who has strong vision in becoming future Indonesian leaders.

“As LPDP scholarship awardees, our duty is to successfully complete Masters and Doctorate degrees on time. Besides, in addition to academic activities, we also have to actively contribute towards society through social and non-profit programs, one of which is UNS LPDP Mengajar”, Didik Tri Wahyudi, the Chief of UNS LPDP Scholarship Awardee Union, said. The program, established in October 2016, has been executed every Wednesday afternoon in Pucangsawit RT.002 RW.010, Jebres, Surakarta. Awardees of various academic disciplines take turns coaching and sharing their experiences to more than 20 local students.

Maximizing Potential

“We apply the learning system through games here. We also have outing classes when there are interesting activities,” Mia Febriana, a postgraduate student of English Education, explained. Moreover, UNS LPDP Mengajar team does not merely conduct academic coaching sessions for these local students, but also help them sharpen their hidden talents and other interests. “UNS LPDP Mengajar team is also involved in their whole learning process. We also help them sharpen their potential so they can figure out themselves what they want to be in future “, Mia added.

Alongside UNS LPDP Mengajar, there are other society development programs organized by the awardees such as LPDP Peduli, which is a charity program for victims of natural disasters around Solo; and LPDP Berbagi Nasi, which is a routine social program targeting pedicab drivers, caretakers, and others who need welfare support.
