UNS – The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has officially withdraw 1,738 students from the Community Service Program (KKN) Period of January-February 2020. The withdrawal ceremony was conducted symbolically by the KKN Management Unit (UPKKN) of the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) UNS in Kabupaten (District) Grobogan, Jawa Tengah, on Tuesday (25/2/2020).
Grobogan becomes one of the KKN Location for the January-February 2020 period and is chosen because UNS has never been conducting a symbolic withdrawal ceremony in this District. In Grobogan, there were 100 UNS KKN Students and 5 Field Supervisors, which deployed to 10 villages in Karangrayun Sub-district. During the KKN Program, the UNS KKN Teams in Grobogan took a theme in ‘Community and Environmental Health Improvement’.
Within the accountability report, the Secretary of LPPM UNS, Prof. Syamsul Hadi, mentioned that the KKN UNS in the beginning of 2020 covers hundred regions in Indonesia, both in Java and abroad.
“The total number of students conducting KKN program in this period is 1,738 accompanied by 77 field supervisors, which deployed to 16 Districts in Jawa Tengah, 6 Districts in Jawa Timur, 3 Districts in Jawa Barat, 1 District in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), and 7 Districts outside Java island. The total locations used are 173 villages, 55 sub-districts, 32 districts, 8 provinces, and 1 abroad location,” said Prof. Syamsul Hadi.
During the implementation of the KKN Program in January-February 2020, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho has a chance to observe the construction of a mosque in KKN UNS Lombok Utara.
“For this period, the Rector visited and carried out a monitoring and evaluation for the KKN program in Lombok Utara, to review the construction of the mosque established by UNS after the disaster,” Prof. Syamsul Hadi added.
Beside the Rector’s visits to the KKN UNS in Lombok Utara, the Vice Rector of Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, held a Monev (Monitoring and Evaluation) for the integrative thematic KKN in Wakatobi, while initiating a partnership with the Local Government of Bau Bau. Meanwhile, the UNS Vice Rector of Planning and Partnership Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, also conducted a Monev for the integrative thematic KKN in Semarang District.
Separately, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Grobogan District, Dr. Ir. Muh. Sumarsono, M.Si, mentioned that KKN UNS in Grobogan has been carried out exceptionally well. He also mentioned several fields that need special attention in near future such as economy, health, and education.
“In general, the program went exceptionally well. There are several focuses that need further assistance. Forward, we need to focus on economy, health, and education. However, it will be more inclined to the economy. If possible, it is necessary to enter the village and foster the village for a period of 4-5 years. For instances understanding their business and income, thus we can safeguard the Village Fund as much as possible for the community,” said Dr. Ir. Muh. Sumarsono. Humas UNS/ Yefta
