UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Press (UNS Press) held a virtual book discussion on improving community health amid the pandemic. The discussion was the first book discussion held by UNS Press in 2022 and will be scheduled as a routine event to discuss books published by UNS Press with topics relevant to the current development. The discussion was held online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting on Tuesday (29/3/2022).
In his opening remark, the Head of UNS Press, Dr. Bedjo Riyanto, M.Hum, stated that the discussion is expected to become a beginning in increasing the awareness of reading both for UNS academic members and community members at large.
Prof. Dr. Sri Sulistyowati, dr. Sp. OG as the author of “Pengaruh Golongan Darah ABO pada Ibu Hamil dengan Covid-19” (the effect of ABO blood type in pregnant women and Covid-19), and Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Pujiasmanto, M.S, the author of “Agroekologi dan Pentingnya Tanaman Obat (Kasus si Raja Pahit Sambiloto)” (agro-ecology and the importance of medicinal herb (Sambiloto)) were invited as speakers in the discussion.
In the first discussion session, Prof. Sri shared her research finding on the effect of blood type in Covid-19 infection on pregnant women. The discussant in the event, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr. M.Si, as the Director of UNS Hospital, also explained in detail the potential of each blood type in transmitting Covid-19.
In the second session, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Pujiasmanto, M.S delivered a presentation on sambiloto plant, its characteristics, cultivation, and benefits during the pandemic. The discussant in the second session was Prof. Dr. Ir. Supriyono, M.S., who explained that sambiloto plant has beneficial health properties and that the discussion around the plant should be increased. Humas UNS
