UNS — The Technical Implementational Unit (UPT) of Public Relations and Media, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, hosted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Public Information Services Governance. The FGD was held for two days, Monday (8/2/2022) to Tuesday (9/2/2022), through a hybrid meeting at Meeting Room IV, dr. Prakosa UNS, inviting the Chairman of the Central Information Commission (KIP) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Gede Narayana, and KIP Senior Assistant, Siti Ajijah.

The FGD was opened by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer.nat., Sajidan. He states that, currently, UNS has transformed into a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH) and recently was awarded the title of the best reporting University in Indonesia by the Ministry of Education and Culture. “We realize that PPID UNS needs to be optimized in terms of public information services. Hence, with this workshop and FGD is expected to increase the public information sensitivity at UNS,” explained Prof. Sajidan.

UNS Public Relations and Media Hosted FGD on Public Information Service Governance

The event continues with opening remarks from the Chairman of KIP RI, Gede Narayana. “My appreciation went to the UNS Information Management and Documentation Officer (PPID) team in hosting this event. Hopefully, this dissemination of public information disclosure can establish a collaborative synergy to achieve the objectives of public information disclosure. Through this synergy, UNS is expected to implement the UU KIP properly and correctly,” explained Gede.

The first day of FGD was filled with a dissemination session regarding the Governance of Public Information Services delivered by the Indonesian KIP Senior Assistant, Siti Ajijah. Siti Ajijah said that PPID is the mouthpiece of a public body. Therefore, this benchmarking outcome can serve as improvement material to be submitted to the UNS leadership for further improvement in the future public services quality. On the second day, the event continued with Public Information List (DIP) Compilation and Updating delivered by Siti Ajijah.

Concluding the event, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto, the Head of UNS Public Relations and Media UPT, who also serves as the Secretary of the UNS PPID, hopes for this FGD to assist UNS in preparing camera-ready works following the required output standards. “This discussion aims to improve the quality of PPID UNS in safeguarding UNS synergism in managing information disclosure to the public. This event can also be a momentum to improve public information services at UNS,” said Dr. Deddy. Humas UNS
