UNS – Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, personally handed over assistance to UNS students from Palestine. Through the UNS Peduli program, UNS was able to collect a total of IDR 60 million. This aid was then given to three UNS students from Palestine in Meeting Room 2 of the dr. Prakosa UNS Rectorate Building.

UNS provided assistance of IDR 20 million each to the three students. The recipients were Doaa Jameel Alramlawi, a master’s student in the Public Administration Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP); Hussein Mahmoud Hussein Abutabaq, a master’s student in the Management Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB); and Mohammed A. A. Abuyounis, a master’s student in the English Education Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).

Prof. Jamal stated that this aid is a form of the university’s concern for the three UNS students from Palestine. He hopes that this assistance can alleviate the burdens they are facing and support their academic tasks during their studies at UNS.

“I sincerely hope that these students from Gaza can continue their master’s studies at UNS smoothly. InsyaAllah, we will continue to accompany these students to ensure their studies progress well,” Prof. Jamal said.

One of the students, Hussein Mahmoud, expressed gratitude for the support from all parties. He felt grateful because Palestine and Indonesia have a strong brotherhood.

“I am very happy to receive assistance from UNS to continue my studies. I am delighted because Indonesia and Palestine are brothers, and this is a form of brotherhood between the two nations,” Hussein Mahmoud said.

These students are experiencing difficulties communicating with their families in Palestine. Some of their relatives are also known to have died due to attacks on civilians. Hussein Mahmoud also hopes that the situation in Palestine can improve and the war can come to an end.

In addition to this, the UNS Peduli program also provided assistance to the victims of a fire incident in Semanggi Subdistrict, Surakarta. The aid amounted to IDR 30 million and will be handed over to the Semanggi Subdistrict authorities. Prof. Jamal conveyed that both of these aids are part of the academic community’s efforts at UNS to develop social care for humanity. Humas UNS
