UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Technical University of Crete (TUC) Greece on Monday (22/11/2021). This collaboration will expand university networking on the global stage. The MoU was signed through an online ceremony by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., and Rector of TUC Prof. Evan Diamadopoulos.

In his opening remark, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho shared his delight at the collaboration between UNS and TUC. He mentioned that UNS is fully aware of the importance of building partnerships with international higher education institutions in this globalization era. The collaboration between UNS and TUC will cover student and faculty exchange and expansion of research and innovation. These programs are expected to bring a positive impact in improving the educational quality for UNS students to achieve international standards. The expansion of research and innovation is also expected to improve research outputs from both universities.

“That’s why we respect your willingness to build a mutual partnership with our university,” Prof. Jamal stated.

UNS Signed MoU with Technical University of Crete, Greece

Prof. Diamadopoulos also shared his appreciation for the collaboration between UNS and TUC. This collaboration, according to him, will also bring a positive encouragement for TUC because currently, TUC is moving forward to be one of the top universities in Greece.

“So, it is important for us to continue all kinds of collaboration with other universities. Because we need to enrich all cultural life, we enrich all academic life. And we find an opportunity to be accepted here. So, we are delighted to sign this agreement,” Prof. Diamadopoulos stated.

The signing ceremony was also attended online by the Ad Interim Charge d’Affaires (KUAI) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Ahmad Ramadhan accompanied by Head of Chancellery and PF Pensosbud Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Athena. Besides sharing their appreciation for the strong commitment from both parties, although constrained by the Covid-19 pandemic situation, KUAI RI Athena hoped that the collaboration could improve people-to-people contacts RI-Greece further.

“For your information, this agreement, according to the embassy record, is the fourth university agreement between Indonesia and Greece,” Ahmad Ramadhan explained.

Ahmad Ramadhan and other KBRI Athens rank stated their support in the plans and implementation of the agreement. He also congratulated UNS and TUC. He hoped that the agreement would bring good effect on the improvement of the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Greece. Humas UNS
