UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta established a partnership with the Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS) Monday (11/4/2022). The partnership was marked by signing a memorandum of understanding between the two parties in Conference Room II of dr. Prakosa Building UNS.

The signing of the memorandum was carried out by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M. Hum., the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yunus, and the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Sajidan, along with the Director of Inspection Supervision and Inter-Institution Relationship BPJS Kesehatan, Mundiharno, witnessed by the President Director of BPJS, Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M.Sc., Ph.D., AAK. This partnership is conducted to support the Tridharma of Higher Education Institution implementation and optimize the National Health Insurance program – Indonesian Healthy Card (JKN-KIS) implementation.

In his remark, Prof. Jamal said that one of the indicators of the developed country is related to how the country delivers health insurance for its citizens, and now BPJS has managed to fulfill the indicator. To this day, out of 270 million Indonesians, around 236 million Indonesian citizens are registered as BPJS participants, equal to 86% of the national population.

“Under the leadership of Prof. Ali Ghufron, BPJS Kesehatan took an extraordinary approach to the community. The education institution, which was previously untouched, thanks to Prof. Ali Ghufron’s initiative, BPJS can now establish a partnership with Higher Education, thus allowing the academic community to participate in the BPJS program,” said Prof. Jamal.

The signatory of this partnership agreement not only declares equal access to health services but also marks an effort to provide greater space for students to study with BPJS Kesehatan through the Merdeka Belajar Campus Merdeka (MBKM) Program. “Since Covid-19, our policy is not limited to health and safety, but we are fortunate. The government through BPJS Kesehatan has prepared everything related to the health of Indonesian citizens,” said Prof. Jamal.

In another remark, Prof. Ali Ghufron said as it is generally known that Indonesia is committed to achieving Universal Health Coverage in 2024 by helping each other to improve the level of public health and provide protection. “As stated by the Rector of UNS, we have reached 236 million participants or 86% of the total Indonesia citizen, and as stated in the 2020/2024 RPJMN, by 2024, we aimed to increase this figure to 98%. Hence, the Indonesian people can feel real social protection in the health sector,” he concluded. Humas UNS
