UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a Mutual Arrangement with the Australian Consulate-General Surabaya on Monday (3/6/2024). The signing ceremony, held in person at the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Tower Ballroom UNS, was accompanied by an Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS) socialization and a panel discussion. This agreement will be in effect until June 3, 2026.

The agreement was signed by the Acting Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Innovation UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Deputy Head of Post, Australian Consulate General, Anthony Clark. The event was also attended by the Head of the International Office UNS, Rino Ardhian Nugroho, S.Sos., M.T.I., Ph.D., along with staff from the Australian Consulate-General Surabaya.

UNS and the Australian Consulate-General agreed to collaborate on the #AussieBanget Corner program. The Mutual Arrangement aims to enhance understanding of Australia and Australian education among students, academics, alumni, and the community. Additionally, this partnership provides students with access to resources and information about educational opportunities and scholarships in Australia.

The #AussieBanget Corner is an Australian-themed open area located in the UNS Library. This program offers a collection of books and educational materials related to Australia. The materials will be managed by the UNS International Office. The #AussieBanget Corner will provide students with information on study opportunities in Australia and access to the National Library of Australia’s online catalog, e-Trove.

Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Innovation UNS, expressed his appreciation for the partnership between UNS and the Australian Government represented by the Australian Consulate General in Surabaya. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our mutual commitment to promoting cultural exchange, education, and mutual understanding.

“The #AussieBanget Corner, located in the UNS Library and the UNS International Office, will serve as a hub for discussion, knowledge sharing, and exploration of all things related to Australia,” Prof. Irwan said.

Through this partnership, he emphasized that UNS aims to strengthen ties, enhance cross-cultural awareness, and empower students with knowledge that transcends borders.

“We envision a future where UNS students and lecturers are actively engaged in enriching dialogues about Australian cultural diversity, cutting-edge research, and educational opportunities. The #AussieBanget Corner will be a conduit for information, a space where curiosity thrives, and a platform for collaboration,” he added.
