UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Student Community Program (KKN) team held training for Bokashi fertilizer production in Logede Village, Pejagoan Subdistrict, Kebumen District on Friday (13/8/2021). Group 36 KKN UNS promoted their program on Community Empowerment in Education, Economy, and Environmental Health. The village has 18 crop gardens managed by the local community, which finds difficulty in fulfilling the needs for fertilizers.
“This is the background for the bokashi fertilizer training program,” Nisrina, a member of Group 36, mentioned.
Bokashi fertilizer is made from the fermentation process of husks, goat manure, and bran with the help of EM4 solution and molasses. Bokashi fertilizer is cheaper than a fertilizer in the market and has good biological nutrients needed by plants. The training was attended by the Village Chief of Logede, Chairman of PKK, Pokja III TP PKK Logede, and representatives from each RT.
“The training started with an introduction with KKN members, a short presentation on bokashi fertilizer. Then followed by a demonstration of the production process practiced by participants. Through this program, Logede people are expected to be independent in producing fertilizer for their crop gardens,” Nisrina hoped. Humas UNS
