UNS — Duta Generasi Berencana (Genre) (Planned Generation Ambassador) election is an annual event held by the Surakarta Municipal Government to select the best young generation who will disseminate Generasi Berencana information. This information including reducing the number of early marriages, sharing the danger of drugs, reminding the spread of HIV/AIDS, and educating the youth about sexual violence. This year Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students won this election.
Four UNS students participated in the event and won all categories in the competition. Ira Laksita Dewi from Civil Engineering Program 2017 was elected as Duta Genre Berbakat (Talented) Surakarta, Claudia Fitri Sanjung Syamdini from Pharmacy Program 2017 was elected as Duta Genre Persahabatan (Friendship) Surakarta, Mohamad Galuh Prasetyo from Law Science Program 2019 was elected as Duta Genre Favorit (Favorite) Surakarta, and Raditia Yoke Pratama from Sociology Program 2018 was elected as Duta Genre Advokasi (Advocacy) Surakarta.
Duta Genre Surakarta has Shining Like A Star to Light Up The World as this year’s theme. The annual event has several selection stages. The first stage was a written examination to determine the Best 50 who will enter the interview stage. The interview stage selects the Best 20 participants with Best 10 Male and Best 10 Female as finalists. These finalists then went through a four-day quarantine to selected the Best Five and the Winner for berbakat, advokasi, and favorit categories. The grand final was held on Saturday (3/4/2021) to announce the Best Five, Best Three, and the Winners.
Raditia Yoke Pratama, one of the UNS participants, stated that he is grateful for winning the event. “Grateful for the appreciation for my hard work and the prize. Secondly, thankful to Generasi Berencana BKKBN and myself for trying new things. I dare to challenge myself, so I feel happier,” Yoke said to the uns.ac.id team.
Ex-Chief of New Student Campus Orientation Program (PKKMB) UNS admitted that he wants to contribute to Surakarta. After participating in student organizations, he wants to try new things and join Duta Genre Surakarta. During the competition, he faced difficulty in managing his time because, at the same time, he also works as a content writer in Pemimpin.id, interning, starts his undergraduate thesis, and participate in Bright Scholarship coaching.
He hopes to be a more humble person, continues learning, and value difference in the future. “Also not to feel older and wiser to learn more and respect others,” he concluded. Humas UNS
