UNS — Zanida Zulfana Kusnari, a student of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, managed to win 2nd place in the national Poetry Creation Competition, 2022 Poetry and Photography Competition (Kolega), organized by the Association of Students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Himprobsi) FKIP UNS. This competition is one of the efforts taken to develop innovations and creations that are important for Indonesia and Bahasa Indonesia’s improvement.
There are two categories in this event, namely the Poetry Competition and the Photography Competition, which features the theme “Vibrant Ramadan Fostering Character Education.” The event was followed by a general public throughout Indonesia. The winners from each category were announced via the Instagram account @himprobsifson Friday (3/6/2022).
Composing a poem entitled “Merawikan Setakat Doa,” Zanida managed to win 2nd place at this event. For these achievements, she felt grateful. “I feel grateful and happy for the result I got in this race. This result motivated me to be more productive in my work and learn more about literature, especially poetry,” said Zanida on Thursday (9/6/2022).
The meaning contained in the poem that she composed describes the obstacles faced by a person when he/she reminds others to do a good deed. “The ‘Merawikan Setakat Doa’ contains a message that in the effort to invite someone to do good deeds, one will inevitably face obstacles, even condescending looks from others. However, if we are sincere and courageous enough to overcome all these obstacles, surely the doors to other people’s hearts will slowly be opened, and then all those noble values will be more easily accepted,” explained Zanida.
At the end of the interview session, Zanida advised fellow students to do positive and useful activities. “To all my fellow students, never be afraid to take steps as long as it is a positive and useful activity. Try taking part in many competitions organized by education institutions and non-education institutions. Remember, the glory of achievements and accomplishment will always belong to the optimistic people,” Zanida said.
Previously, Zanida also managed to win several awards. These awards include the 3rd place in the International Level Poetry and Short Story Writing Competition (LCPC 6) by the 2021 ‘Event Menulis Nasional’; 2nd place in the 2021 National Poetry and Indonesia Literature Competition by Universitas Negeri Malang; 3rd place in the Collegiate National Poetry Competition 2021, and 1st place in the Southeast Asian Language and Literature Week 2021.
