UNS – Another proud achievement was made by a student of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. This time the achievement was presented by Esti Yulandari, a student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS. She won as Winner 3 in the 2023 Bangka Belitung Islands Language Ambassador Selection.
For this achievement, Esti admitted that she was happy and grateful. “Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful and thank Allah SWT, family, friends, and all parties who cannot be mentioned one by one for their support and prayers. Thank you also to the Language Office and Association of Language Ambassadors (Ikadubas) of the Bangka Belitung Islands for the trust and appreciation that have been entrusted to me,” Esti said when contacted by uns.ac.id on Monday (12/6/2023).
Meanwhile, Esti said that her motivation to take part in the selection of Language Ambassadors for the Bangka Belitung Islands was because the event was relevant to her educational background.
“Furthermore, learning a language is something that I really want to deepen. Consequently, I took part in several activities or competitions related to language, including this language ambassador event,” she continued.
After holding the title of language ambassador, Esti believed that she had a big mandate, especially how to be a role model in using the good and correct Indonesian language.
“Therefore, I commit to developing and fostering the Indonesian language, starting with myself. As a representative for language preservation, I always try to be able to place and use language, especially Indonesian properly and correctly,” she explained.
Finally, Esti advised us to be wiser in our use of language. “Learning a language is often considered easy. However, in fact it is not as easy as imagined. Therefore, let us continue to study the language, love the language, and preserve the language,” she concluded. Humas UNS
