UNS — A student of Physics Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the National Story Telling Competition held by the Student Association of Special Education Program Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). Khusnul Khotimah won the 1st prize in the competition.
The competition was held as a part of Fun International Disability Day with “Bravery Be Our Ability to Build Inclusivity” as the theme. In the competition, Khusnul told the story of “Laskar Cilik, Pejuang Disabilitas” (children group of disability fighters). The competition includes registration round, work submission, assessment, and announcement.
Khusnul explained that the story she created talks about a little child with a disability who fights to reach their dream amid their limitation.
“The idea tried to tell and share a story on a kid with a disability who tried to achieve their dream and rights although people were mocking,” Khusnul explained.
Khusnul shared her story using a doll as a property. She explained that the story aims to grow people’s awareness of equality of rights, including people with disability. Her efforts brought a sweet result when she was announced as the winner on Sunday (19/12/2021) through the Zoom Cloud Meeting.
In the future, Khusnul hoped that she could invite more people to do good deeds and bring pride to UNS. “And certainly, to keep on creating,” she said. Humas UNS
