UNS — The student of Law Science Program Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Elisabeth Felita Silalahi, won the first position in Essay Competition held by Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (Badan Kerja Sama Antar Parlemen – BKSAP) The Indonesian People’s Representative Council (DPR) in the youth category, Thursday (3/9/2020).
In the contact with uns.ac.id, Elisabeth conveyed her gratitude for the achievement. She stated that this achievement is the result of preparation she had done from mid-July. Elisabeth discussed the role of BKSAP DPR in improving inter-countries multiculturalism in handling Covid-19 pandemic globally in her essay. She explained that Covid-19 pandemic demands a collective effort from all countries in the world. So far, Elisabeth sees that there has been no good coordination/cooperation between countries in handling the Covid-19 pandemic in the world. To apply her idea, Elisabeth emphasized the importance of multilateralism for Indonesia, especially the DPR, to establish communication with countries, agencies and international organizations.
Her interest to join the Essay Competition from BKSAP DPR RI, cannot be separated from her wishes to stay productive amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Elisabeth is aware that by training her critical thinking she will improve her ability. In particular, she also appreciated BKSAP DPR RI for organizing this essay competition. For her, this kind of competition can develop young generation critical thinking in assisting the government to find a solution in accelerated handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. As the first-place winner, Elisabeth defeated 1,553 participants in the youth category, and eligible for the prize of 10 million rupiahs. She will be invited to the DPR RI building to receive the prize directly. Humas UNS
