UNS – The student of Faculty of Social Studies (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta carved another International achievement. Vinka Dorothy Purba won the Best Essay Writing Competition “Write For Charity” Let’s Fight Covid-19 Together held by Global Youth International Model United Nations (GYIMUN) in partnership with Dhyeya Foundation, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) from India.
To uns.ac.id, Vinka said that the good news was delivered through the organizer’s Instagram Story on Friday (7/5/2020). The student of the non-regular program in Communication Science FISIP admitted that she received the information about the competition from her friend in India. Participants from various countries such as Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Africa, Malaysia, and the Philippines participated in this competition.
“This competition was very interesting for me because it had a goal to help people affected by Covid-19 in India. The registration fees from the participants will be donated. Additionally, the people closest to me are also very supportive in joining this,” Vinka explained, Saturday (19/5/2020).
Vinka selected a theme that suits her capacity i.e. Charity Starts From Home. In her opinion, from all the offered themes, only this theme that is possible for her to write. She did not take long to complete her work, in less than a week, the class 2019 student has completed her work.
“Through this essay, I want to invite people to help to fight Covid-19 from home by helping each other in their closest environment, in this case, the neighbors. Aids can be adjusted to each person’s capacity. Because fighting Covid-19 is not just the job of the doctors and nurses, but we as neighboring communities to care for one another,” she added.
