UNS, Magelang — The students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta who currently conducting their community program (KKN) in Candimulyo, Magelang, host socialization on the danger of drug abuse, on Wednesday (5/2/2020). This socialization was held in SD Tapirwetan, Candimulyo Sub-district, Magelang, Jawa Tengah. The students use a unique approach while delivering the socialization on the dangers of drug abuse to elementary school students.
This idea was started from the awareness of Rizqi Abdul Rahman, a student of Mechanical Engineering study program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS, as the village Coordinator for the KKN program, due to the rise in drugs issues in Indonesia and the young generation is vulnerable to be affected by drugs.
“I want the next generation (our younger siblings) to know about the dangers of drugs and the prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism,” Rizqi said when contacted by uns.ac.id through a phone call, on Saturday (8/2/2020).
The information on the danger of drug abuse has been provided to the public often, especially to the young generation. However, not all socialization is delivered through an interesting concept and is usually provided formally. This time Rizqi racking his brain to prepare interesting socialization, thus the message can be delivered properly. Finally, Rizqi and his teammates deliver socialization on the dangers of drug abuse while wearing a superhero costume that is Superman.
Most of the material presented during the socialization is about the danger of drug abuse and alcoholism. However, between the material, they also give an ice-breaking session by doing some games and quizzes with the theme of nationalism.
Besides the students, the teachers also participated in the event and made it more lively, they were pleased with the activity organized by the UNS KKN team. Rizqi mentioned that at the end of the event a video was played to motivate the students. The video delivers a message to the students to always be grateful and always eager to learn. The students get carried away by the atmosphere when the video was played. Afterward, the students were encouraged to apologize to their teachers.
