UNS — The student of Vocational School (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta who competed in the Indonesia Vocational Olympiad (Olimpiade Vokasi Indonesia – Olivia) 2020 brought home the 2nd position and favorite champion in the Educational Video Competition category, Tuesday (10/11/2020).
These students are Irfan Muhammad Naufal (D-3 Advertising), Rifky Daffa Pratama (D-3 Advertising), Agustina Nur Hapsari (D-3 Advertising) and Albertus Hans Surya Hanandra (D-3 Public Relation). In the competition held on 11 – 30 October 2020 by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, they submitted a movie titled “Senandika”.
Taking a kindergarten in Tawangharjo Village, Giriwoyo Sub-District, Wonogiri, as a background, they told the challenges faced by the school when teaching and learning activities should be conducted online. These challenges include bad internet connection, financially disadvantaged families, and parents who are not familiar with the technology. However, behind all of the difficulties faced by the kindergarten, the teachers, students, and parents continue to find a way to make sure that the learning process keeps running. They keep conducting in-class learning by implementing strict health protocol.
“These challenges do not make them despondent. They keep the spirit and their heart moved them to continue striving and conducted offline learning by implementing health protocol,” Irfan Muhammad stated on Saturday (14/11/2020).
The student of class 2019 stated that he and his fellows have long wanted to document the learning process in this kindergarten. Through this film, they want to show the difference between online learning in urban and rural schools. Thus, from this movie, people can see the reality of uneven education quality in several regions in Indonesia. Therefore, more assistance and attention are required in the implementation of online learning in the areas that are considered as not ready.
Under the supervision from Henricus Hans Setyawan Prabowo, M.I.Kom, the four students conducted a shooting for 2 days in the area which took 2 hours trip. They have to pass through the broken road, difficulty in directing little children during the shoots, and problems in audio. “So, we prepared for the competition for around 2 weeks. We conducted an observation for 2 days looking for what we want to put in the film and find a point of view that not many people know. Then prepared a concept and script for 5 days, and prepared equipment and other stuff in one day. Followed by shooting in Wonogiri for 2 days, concluded with the editing process for 2 days,” Irfan explained. With this achievement, Irfan hopes that he can continue to win in other competitions and to bring a proud name for UNS at the national level through his creative works. Humas UNS
