UNS — Wonderful news came from the creative sports field in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, as a student won 2nd place in Quarantine Workout Challenge video creation. Agus Setiyabudi, a student from the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS, has won the competition organized by the Student Regiment (Menwa) of Maranatha Christian University, Bandung. The competition aims to use the time at home during quarantine by doing positive activities. It is expected that the exercise can form healthy habits for the Indonesian people, especially students as the next generation.
“Exercise can enhance body endurance amid the Covid-19 epidemic. Besides that, the event also a form of students student concern in fighting Covid-19 through workouts #DiRumahAja. Other than creating a video, the participating students must edit the video creatively and adds a unique and interesting caption,” Agus explains on Friday (8/1/2021).
The competition was started with a registration stage on August 10th, 2020, while the announcement of the winner was made on August 18th, 2020, through @menwamaranatha Instagram account. “My video has 3 minutes and 19 seconds in duration. I demonstrated Tabata Workout movement such as Push Up, Push Up Plank, Push Up and Rotation, Jumping Jack, Dynamic Lunges, Side Lunges, Lunges With Kick, Split Jump, Plank Jack, Spider Crawl, Russian Twist, and Bicycle Crunch,” he explains.
Regarding the challenges, Agus mentioned that he faces certain difficulties during the filming process. “I have to retake the video several times because suddenly someone is passing by or due to imperfect movement,” Agus adds.
During this ongoing pandemic, immunity must be maintained for us to be strong to fight viruses that attack the immune system. One of the efforts to ensure this is through routine exercises or workouts. This condition becomes a motivation for Agus in creating a workout movement model in his video.
“I hope the public is not lazing around for working out, especially during this pandemic. At home workouts is enough, there is no need to walk around the surrounding environment,” he concluded. Humas UNS
