UNS – To maximize the natural tourism potential, the students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, who currently conducting a Community Service Program (KKN) in Bayan Village, Bayan Sub-District, Lombok Utara, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), organize cleaning-up activities at Mandala Springs.
The KKN Team in Bayan village is divided into 4 main divisions namely tourism, agriculture, post-disaster recovery, and education. Each division has established its work plan that aims to improve the standard of living for the local communities. The agriculture division will hold assistance for the local farmer groups in order to maximize their agricultural output.
Meanwhile, the post-disaster recovery division organizes education on how to perform a post-disaster trauma healing. The education division will establish a study group to help the school-age children to better understand science. The tourism division, as well, jas a focus to improve the potential of tourism spot in Bayan village. One of the work plans from this division is a cleaning-up of Mandala Springs.
The cleaning-up that was held on Friday (17/01/2020) is one of the activities of UNS students in collaboration with all components of the local community. With its beautiful scenery, the pool was filled with fallen leaves. UNS students and all components of the local community work together to clean the leaves. They also drain the pool and clean the ground floor to be free of moss.
“What we do here should be carried-out earnestly. After we went back to Solo, we hope that there will be works that can be useful for the long-term. We wish the agriculture and tourism sector can progress more,” said Afnan Taqiyarrahman, one of the students who join the KKN program in Lombok.
Not only cleaning the pool, but the UNS students also wish that the local community can maximize the natural potential it has, as the location of Bayan village is near with Rinjani Mountain hillside. There are many strategic tourism potentials that would attract tourists if there is optimum care. Humas UNS/ Zalfaa
