UNS — Another achievement was accomplished by students of University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The latest was successfully achieved by the students of UNS Law Faculty in the 2019 Ubaya Law Fair.
In the competition that was held on November 22-24, 2019, UNS FH sent a contingent of 4 students to compete in the categories of debate and legal opinion.
The contingent in the debate category consisted of Madani Mahsaputri, Luqman Nabil, and Nurul Aida Fitriani. While in the category of legal opinion, UNS FH delegated Elisabeth Felita Silalahi. Through the delegation, UNS FH students succeeded in winning the first place in the debate and legal opinion categories.
Not only returning home the first prize but in the 2019 Ubaya Law Fair in the category of debate, one of the delegates of the UNS FH debate team, Nurul Aida Fitriani won the Best Speaker.
In the category of debate, the UNS debate team competed against Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Bandung. When in the final round, the UNS FH team knocked-out the team debate from Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI).
“For the semifinal, we won over Unpad through the debate motion: Restitution to Victims as the Alternative Criminal Law Enforcement. Meanwhile, in the final round we won over UKI with the debate motion: Enactment of the Sexual Violence Bill (RUU PKS),” explained one of the members of the debate team, Luqman Nabil.
When asked about the team’s preparation in the competition, Luqman Nabil said that they had passed quite intense preparation, starting from the administrative process to the consultation with their lecturers.
“The delegates usually filled every evening from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. We also consulted with our lecturers at their house. When in weekends, it started from 1 p.m.,” he continued.
By the achievements they had obtained, Luqman Nabil hopes that those achievements can motivate himself to be more productive in contributing achievements to UNS.
“Hopefully, It can motivate myself to contribute more to the alma mater in particular. And hopefully, it can motivate all of you to be able to think critically, especially in legal issues,” he expressed. Humas UNS/Yefta/Try
