UNS – Brilliant achievements were accomplished by athletes of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in 2019 1st Tapak Suci World Championship. In this event held on September 1-5 in GOR Bhinneka Sritex Arena sporting center, the UNS athletes who are under the name Central Java contingents of Tapak Suci succeeded in donating some medals in various classes. They are Ardan Syaifudin and Bayu Triono from Sport Coaching Education Department, also Muhammad Abdul Rozzak from Physical Health and Recreation Education Department who returned home gold medal in the Indonesia Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) category of male teams.
The gold medal won by them, increased the gold acquisition for the contingent of Central Java at the same time, so that the total was two gold medals. Besides, the UNS athletes also managed the single sector medals. They are Sarah Puspandari from Early Childhood Education Department who achieved silver medal in the category of women armed and Zulfikri Maulana Hafidz from Sport Coaching Education Department who won silver medal in the category of men unarmed.
In this championship, there were 24 UNS tapak suci athletes taking part in the Central Java contingents and most of them were new faces.
“It’s very impressive considering that some of the students attending this championship were freshmen. But they proved themselves can achieve success by hardworking and painstaking,” expressed Hasintasari, one of UNS students who occupied silver medals in the category of team.
After this championship ended, the UNS tapak suci athletes will prepare in facing 2019 Airlangga Championship. Hopefully, by the championship, the UNS athletes will manage other successes as in the last Central Java Provincial Students Sports Week (Pomprov). Humas UNS/Yefta/Try
