UNS – After successfully achieving second winner and esteem for the best program of an unmanned vehicle in 2018, the Unmanned Vehicle (UV) Bengawan Team of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is ready to compete in two national competitions in 2019. The two contests are the 2019 Indonesian Flying Robot Competition (KRTI) at the airport of Indonesian National Military (TNI) Al Grati, Pasuruan, on 1 to 5 of October 2019 and the 2019 Unmanned Fast Ship Competition in Sengkaling, Malang on 10 to 13 of October 2019. This preparation was marked by the launching of Flying Robot and Unnamed Ship prototypes and the releasing of UV Bengawan Team on Friday (9/27/2019) located in front of dr. Prakosa building.
Billy Yansa Latif Imamah, the team manager, stated that the contests are two prestigious national competitions that have tough selection processes before becoming the finalist.
“There are a lot of registrants and we successfully became the finalist. In KTRI, we will join 3 categories which are Vehicle Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) to drop and take things based on specific location, Racing Vehicle, and Plane for Mapping and Monitoring,” Billy explained.
Meanwhile, for the Fast Ship Competition, the team will join three categories as well, one of them will be Electric Boat. Billy added that there would be some maintenances done by the team in order to win the competitions.
“Our target this year is to become the champion, thus there needs some maintenances and rearranges strategies. For instance, the maintenance for the body and ship dimension and the speed raising. In the last year it could operate for 15 t0 20 minutes, then this year (it) upgrades until 30 minutes,” he added.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho gave advice while releasing the team that the students should keep innovating through various creation and competition.
“Students should create many innovations, especially in such competitions. If in 2017 we achieved the best newcomer, in 2018 the best program and the second winner, this year we should be the champion. I entrust this competition to you,” Prof. Jamal mentioned.
Besides, the competitions would be a media evaluation and consideration of the team for the following two international contests in 2020.
“Next year, there will be two international competitions that we want to join. They are in Turkey and a Robot Boat competition in Florida, America. If the result of this competition is good and satisfying, we are ready to join those international competitions and keep making innovations in the era of 4.0,” Billy stated. HUMAS UNS/Kaffa/Imron
