UNS – Students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta have once again achieved success in the National Essay Competition of the Mechanical Education Festival (MEF) 2023 organized by the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program (PTM) UNS. This time, the achievement was presented by Perdana Mangayu Bagyo, a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP) Faculty of Agriculture (FP) UNS, and Arifatul Hidayah, a student of the Statistics Study Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNS.
With their research idea on an automated floating waste management system in rivers, Perdana and Arifatul secured 2nd place in the essay competition category. Upon this achievement, Perdana, as the team representative, expressed joy in winning this competition.
“At first, we didn’t expect to achieve second place. Especially when we saw the extraordinary ideas presented by other participants, their presentation techniques were truly captivating. However, when the winners were announced, we were extremely grateful to have secured second place,” Perdana said on Tuesday (July 4, 2023).
Later, Perdana and Arifatul hope to continue participating in other competitions with better efforts and innovations. Specifically, they aim to implement their innovations in practical applications.
“Finally, our message is to not be afraid to try as long as it is for something good. Always strive optimally, never neglect the small things and keep trying,” Perdana concluded. Humas UNS
