UNS — A proud achievement had once again been made by the students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. Recently, Bima Pramudya and Mazza Zulfikar Wibowo from the Architecture Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering (FT), along with Aditya Revi Setiawan, Nasyafa Fierlyanda Putri, and Huda Sahidah Faqih from the Interior Design Study Program, Faculty of Arts and Designs (FSRD), formed a team that won a silver medal at the 12th International Innovation, Invention & Design Competition (INDES) 2023.
The competition took place online from early March to June 22, 2023. The team, guided by Dr. Eng. Kusumaningdyah Nurul Handayani, S.T., M.T. and Pandu Purwandaru, S.Ds., M.Ds., Ph.D., presented a design for ecotourism based on local rice farming in Sabrang Village, Delanggu, Klaten Regency.
“In the design, there is a workshop area for making crafts from rice plants. In addition, we also utilize the rice field area so that tourists can experience rice planting. Then, there is a place to support local traditions, such as ‘wiwitan’ and ‘ngani-ani’, we call them ‘gubug event’. We also provide a flower garden, an outbound arena, and a traditional culinary area,” Bima Pramudya explained as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id, Monday (4/9/2023).
The ecotourism design aims to familiarize the broader community with Rojolele Rice, a superior local commodity in Delanggu, Klaten. Additionally, through this ecotourism initiative, Bima hopes to boost the local economy by attracting tourists to the area.
Bima mentioned that the team, consisting of members from various academic disciplines, started with a collaboration between UNS Architecture and Interior Design lecturers. This collaboration led to their participation in a competition that harmonized these two disciplines.
One team member from Interior Design, Aditya Revi Setiawan, expressed happiness with the achievement.
“Even though it may not be perfect, we are still grateful for this achievement. Hopefully, it can inspire our friends to pursue golden opportunities in various competitions at the national and international levels,” he said. Humas UNS
