UNS – A group of students from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won three championship titles at the Central Java Regional Recreation Sports Festival (Forda Jateng) Inorga Foni in 2023. The three champions were Fatimah Azzahro from the Economic Education Study Program (Prodi) (Category W20, 1st Place); Firda Hanin from Special Education Study Program (Category W21, 2nd Place); and Fahdilah Cahya Ningrum from the Biology Education Study Program (Category W20, 3rd Place). All three are students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, and they all achieved victory in the sprint orienteering competition. The event was organized by the Indonesian Community Sports and Recreation Committee (KORMI) of Central Java Province at the Jatidiri Stadium Complex, Semarang.
Fatimah Azzahro, who won 1st Place in Category W20, expressed her joy and pride at her achievement. “Alhamdulillah, I feel extremely happy and proud. Moreover, seeing other friends also achieve victory. Alhamdulillah, they won the championship, and it makes it more delightful,” Fatimah said.
Furthermore, Fatimah shared her tips and tricks that led to her success, including maintaining a balanced training routine, getting enough rest, continuously honing her skills, especially navigation skills, and staying completely focused during the competition.
Firda Hanin, who achieved 2nd place in Category W21, also provided valuable tips on how to clinch a championship title. She emphasized the importance of dedicating more effort to practice and keeping the spirit high. “The training routine can be quite exhausting. For example, if there is a gap in your training schedule, try to make up for it on the following day, ” Hanin added.
Similarly, Fahdilah Cahya Ningrum, who won 3rd Place in Category W20, expressed her gratitude and pride for winning the championship title. “I am very grateful and proud of myself for achieving this victory,” Fahdilah said.
Fahdilah also advised against becoming complacent with the results achieved. Instead, she encouraged continuous learning, exploring untapped potential, and maintaining enthusiasm for practice. She also hoped that orienteering would gain wider recognition among the general public in the future.
