UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students accomplished another achievement. Khanif Irsyad Fahmi, Agricultural Extension & Communication Program (PKP) student, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) class of 2018 and Yokanang Chandra Arfiansyah, Natural Science Education Program student, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) class of 2018, won the 2nd position in I-CHALLENGE 2021 poster competition held by Chemical Engineering Student Association Universitas Brawijaya (UB).
I-CHALLENGE 2021 championship a theme of Sustainable Use of Energy and Biological Engineering to Overcome Problems in the Modern Era. Khanif stated that the theme is in line with her interest in solving environmental issues. “Especially waste issues,” she said to the uns.ac.id team on Tuesday (18/5/2021).
Khanif and Yokanang discussed the use of macro-organism to break down the trash. The team spent two days completing their work on “Maggot: Natural Waste Decomposition Technology”, which is in line with the competition theme. The poster successfully won over 160 participants in the championship, and they were announced as one of the winners on Sunday (9/5/2021). Even though the competition was held online, Khanif and Yokanang said they were delighted with this achievement.
As the current President of Student Executive Board (BEM) FP, Khanif is grateful that she could bring a proud name for UNS. “Our work is also recognized and received a positive assessment from juries. Moreover, being winner amid my activities as president BEM,” she said.
They hope that their idea could be implemented in the community in the future because it will maintain the environmental balance while generating benefits for the community. Humas UNS
