UNS — Proud achievement was obtained by three Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students from the Faculty of Law (FH) UNS after winning the 2nd position in the Veteran Legal Competition 2021. Gusti Faza Aliya, Gatot Isnawanjati Budi Abiyudo, and Alvin Devote Azaria Ardana through their Kerajaan Kaling group won the online competition held by FH Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran Jakarta.
The team received support from their research team that consists of Luthfiana Aisy, Siti Ashira, Luthfi Naufal, and Muslifah; with Muhammad Irsyad serving as official and Dwi Wahyu Ahmad as a video editor. Faza, one of the team members, is grateful for the achievement. “We are delighted and grateful for bringing a proud name for KDFH UNS and FH UNS. We are also relieved as our efforts pay off by achieving 2nd position,” Faza said to uns.ac.id team on Wednesday (19/5/2021).
The team went through several stages before announced as the 2nd position on Sunday (11/4/2021). First, they submitted a video in the elimination stage, then quarter-final, semifinal, and final rounds. Faza said they participated in the competition because they wanted to be achieved students who bring proud names for FH UNS. “By participating in the competition, we are also moving into the better way and learning together,” Faza added.
There are many aspects of the competition that challenged them because it was held online, the team was required to train online and prepare video for the elimination stage. Faza also said that the communication was not as smooth as in the offline competition. Since this was her first competition, she found that it was pretty hard to adapt at first. However, with support from many people, she felt greatly helped by the team.
“I am a new member, and this was my first time participating in the competition, so that in the beginning, I felt hard to adapt. But, Alhamdulillah, the mentors, delegates, and research team fully support (me) and shared knowledge, speech training, and debate sparring. It helped (me) in the debating process,” Faza explained.
In the future, she hoped that KDFH UNS could be a means for new debaters and champions. “And to bring proud name for KDFH UNS and FH UNS,” Faza concluded. Humas UNS
