UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta received the result of autopsy of Gilang Endi Saputra, UNS student killed in the Basic Education and Training (Diklatsar) Korps Mahasiswa Siaga Batalyon 905 Jagal Abilawa UNS or Student Regiment (Menwa – Resimen Mahasiswa) UNS. The response was provided on the reports from many mass media that mentioned the statement from Kapolresta Surakarta (Surakarta Police Chief), Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak, that the autopsy result of Gilang Endi Saputra has been handed by Bhayangkara Semarang Hospital to Polresta Surakarta (Surakarta Police Office) on Friday (29/10/2021).

“UNS welcomed the development of this case (investigation) with the release of autopsy result of Gilang Endi Saputra from Bayangkara Semarang Hospital to the Investigating Team at Polresta Surakarta because the result has been long-awaited by many people, including UNS,” Prof. Jamal explained on Saturday (30/10/2021).

Prof. Jamal added that UNS had not received any copy of autopsy results from the police office, and the news was sourced from the mass media. UNS hopes that the autopsy result could be used to its best of use by the Investigating Team of Polresta Surakarta in revealing the facts surrounding the incident that killed one UNS student and to uphold justice for all related parties.

Following the incident, UNS was actively taking all necessary steps, maintaining close coordination with the victim’s family, with the police office, and conducting coordination with the student association. As reported previously, the Rector of UNS formed Evaluation Team for UKM Korps Mahasiswa Siaga Batalyon 905 Jagal Abilawa UNS on Monday (25/10/2021) through Letter of Assignment Number 4461/UN27/KP/2021. Based on the recommendation from the Evaluation Team, the Rector UNS has suspended UKM Korps Mahasiswa Siaga Batalyon 905 Jagal Abilawa through UNS Rector Decree Number 2815/UN27/KH/2021.

The Evaluation Team will continue conducting an internal investigation on the groups’ activities to provide recommendations for the UNS executive board in managing student associations in UNS in general and the continuity of or the presence of UKM Korps Mahasiswa Siaga Batalyon 905 Jagal Abilawa in UNS.

UNS also maintains close communication and coordination with the victim’s family and is involved in every investigation stage from bringing Gilang home, autopsy process, to the burial process. To this day, the Rector of UNS continues assigning UNS academic members to maintain communication and coordination with the family. On Thursday (28/10/2021), the UNS executive board and representative of BEM UNS held a close meeting with the family in dr. Prakosa Building UNS.

UNS always supports the investigation process by the police through coordination and collaboration in providing information and facilitates all stages of the examination process with students, faculty members, and academic staff related to the incident. “UNS trusts the professionalism of Police in the investigation process that has started and strongly wish for the disclosure of the facts to truly uphold the justice and truth,” Prof. Jamal stated.
