UNS — The leaders of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta represented by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, and the Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, together with the UNS Student Alliance, held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Tuesday (28/7/2020). The FGD discusses the result of a study conducted by the UNS Student Executive Board (BEM), which underlies the demands of students “Dasa Sila”, voiced by the UNS Student Alliance at a demonstration on Boulevard UNS on 20 July 2020.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho states that the FGD was held in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS and was attended by 35 students representing the UNS Student Alliance, Advisory Team consisting of seven-person, which consist of UNS Rector’s Expert Staff and Vice Deans in Student and Alumni Affairs, from several faculties in UNS. The FGD was started by the Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, which followed with a discussion.
During the discussion, the participants were divided into five groups. Each group consists of student representatives and Advisory team members. Each group discusses a certain topic or issue based on UNS Student Alliance Study. “Single Tuition Fee (UKT) and Alma mater jacket, UKT dispensation, Institution Development Contribution (SPI), Online Lecture implementation, PTNBH (State Universities with Legal Entities), Student Academic Freedom, and other crucial issues. The discussion in each group was also attended by the Rector of UNS who had a direct dialogue with student representatives,” explains Prof. Kuncoro.
After group discussion is over, representatives of each discussion group from the UNS Student Alliance delivered a report on the discussion result in each group, in front of all FGD participants. The selected representatives who present the result are Arifin on Single Tuition Fee (UKT) and Alma mater jacket, Adit on UKT dispensation, Firda on Institution Development Contribution (SPI), Toro on Online Lecture implementation, and lastly Wahid on PTNBH, academic freedom, and many other.
In the presentation delivered by representatives of the UNS Student Alliance, it was mentioned that the alliance appreciates the FGD as a positive response from the UNS Rectory for the aspiration delivered by the Student Alliance. Further, the points of common perception and follow-up steps mutually agreed upon by representatives of the UNS Student Alliance and the Advisory Team, are delivered.
The results of the FGD will be processed as material to be discussed later in a direct audience for students with the Rector of UNS, which will be held in the near future. The Hearing is planned to be held face-to-face with student representatives and also broadcasted online, thus all students can follow the Hearing. Humas UNS
