UNS – Association of the Faculty of Medical Science Alumni (KAFK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta organize fundraising for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Along with the COVID-19 outbreak, the KAFK administrator tries to organize fundraising. This was a form of concern for the medical personnel who acted as the vanguard in the COVID-19 outbreak.
“This started in March until mid of April, and certainly all alumni of FK UNS had participated in this action. For instance, spreading related information to our fellow colleagues or to the public,” explain the General Secretary of KAFK UNS, dr. Dewi Purnamaningsih Pribadi S.
The assistance collected through this action was in the form of PPE such as hazmat suits, masks, gloves, face shield or goggles. The equipment has become a necessity for medical personnel who are on duty. The objective of the action is to provide PPE for the Doctor Assistance (co-assistant) from the FK UNS, medical staff who specifically handle COVID-19 patients in hospitals and clinics in Soloraya.
The aids collected are distributed to 25 health facilities across Soloraya in two stages. On Friday, April 3rd, 2020, the first stage of distribution reached 7 health facilities. In the following stage, the 2nd stage was conducted on 9 and 10 April 2020, distributed to 18 health facilities. The health facilities that receive this assistance are as follows RS Kasih Ibu Solo, RS Nirmala Suri Sukoharjo, RS Umum Saras Ibnu Sina Sukowati Sragen, RS Hidayah Boyolali, Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) Wonogiri Branch, Klinik Rejosari Husada Klaten, and many others.
This action is expected to help meet the needs of medical equipment for the medical personnel. The medical equipment assistance will always be needed as long as the coronavirus cases are not solved.
“We hope that the medical personnel who handle the COVID-19 patients will always healthy, safe from the infection, and never get infected by the COVID-19 to be able to treat all COVID-19 patients, especially in Soloraya area,” said dr. Dewi. Humas UNS/Ratri
