UNS – The Open Senate Meeting on the 44th Anniversary of the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, which held in G.P.H Haryo Mataram Auditorium, Wednesday (11/3/2020) has been conducted smoothly. Congratulations on the 44th Anniversary continue to flow from various parties. When met in the dr. Prakosa Rectory Building after the Open Senate Meeting, Prof. Wimboh happily and proudly deliver a congratulated UNS on its 44th anniversary.

“Congratulation and success for UNS, which is now 44 years old and of course this 44 years old is now equal with other universities. Earlier, we are (red: the alumni of UNS) proud because UNS has become a benchmark for other universities in Indonesia,” said Prof. Wimboh.

The pride felt by Prof. Wimboh is expressed after witnessing and hearing directly regarding the various achievements that have been achieved by UNS for the last one year, such as ranked 5th in Webometrics and 1st Klaster of Higher Education based on the ranking by the Minister of Research Technology and Higher Education on 2019.

Prof. Wimboh added that the challenges faced by UNS in the future will be harder. Not only due to the high demand of the time and industry, but also because the competition among the higher education in Indonesia will be more competitive.

“Of course, in the near future there will be many challenges that must be faced and other universities will strive to be more advanced. This means that it is a favorable situation for the Country because all universities want to move forward in the future,” he added.

For Prof. Wimboh, with the competitiveness among the universities in Indonesia, it will encourage UNS to give more contribution to the nation and state. The main point stressed by Prof. Wimboh is the role of UNS in implementing the mandate of Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

“The presence of UNS is not only preparing excellent human resources but also to solve the relevant problems in the community and supporting the development of the country, expanding employment, and protecting the environment and culture,” he said.

At the end of the interview, Prof. Wimboh praised various steps and initiatives taken by UNS, such as the establishment of Javanologi Institute as the ‘Home of Javanese Diaspora’ and establishing the Center for Fintech and Banking or UNS Fintech Center.

“I am proud because in UNS there are Majors in Javanology and also Center for Financial Technology. This is extraordinary and we strongly support, hopefully, UNS can be more developed in the future,” concluded Prof. Wimboh. Humas UNS/ Yefta
