UNS – In alliance with The People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of law enforcement with the theme “The Authority and Responsibility of the President in a Judicial System to Uphold Law and Justice” in Aston Hotel Solo (07/11/2019). The speaker was the chairman of Assessment Board of MPR RI, Rully Chairul Anwar.
The Executive Committee of the event, Maria Madalina, M.Hum. said that this FGD invited law experts from various mainstreams. They are experts from state-level administration law, civil law, criminal law, and also from academics. “There are lawyers as well, and students of doctoral program who concentrate on public policy related to the state,” said Maria in the sideline of the event.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Assessment Board of MPR RI, Rully Chairul Anwar, said that Indonesia had not succeeded in realizing the law as a commander.
“It must be admitted that the law implementation is still anecdotal because the law has not become the utmost leader,” Rully stated.
The justice seekers, all the citizens, demand the non-selective law. The equality before the law. According to him, it was all anecdotal and remind to be issues because the case had not finished yet.
The Assessment Board of MPR RI held the FGD related to the authority and responsibility of the President on the judicial system to enforce the law and justice in some regions. MPR want to absorb the local wisdom related to the law enforcement then submit it to the House of Representatives (DPR) and the parties’ tops.Â
“The result of this FGD expectedly can be a recommendation for the leaders of MPR. Furthermore, the FGD is not only held in Solo but other cities,” he concluded. Humas UNS/Try
