UNS – In order to increase global competitiveness, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of Universitas Sebelas Maret (FKIP UNS) Surakarta sent off six students participating in International Internship Program (PPL) to Malaysia on Friday (7/4/2017) in FKIP UNS campus. Those six students are Pertiwi Ayu Kusuma Ratri, Daruwati, Rizka Noor Azila, Fairus Arifia, Rahmawati Amalia and Winda Greatta Zakiah, they all are students of Special Education Department (PLB) FKIP UNS.
Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FKIP UNS, Munawir Yusuf, elaborated that increasing competence of global-minded teacher candidates has been developed since 2016. The program was managed by Internationalization team of FKIP UNS through cooperation with universities in Thailand, The Philippines, Vietnam, Germany, Singapore, and Malaysia.
“FKIP UNS facilitates PPL activity for students abroad, be it in the form of inter-university student exchange or assignation to Indonesian schools abroad. International PPL is conducted through some means, one of which is by making cooperation with South East Asian Minister of Education Organization (SEAMEO) secretariat,” Munawir said.
Munawir added, PPL for UNS students to Malaysia, precisely in Universitas Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), will be conducted for one month starting from April 8th to May 6th 2017 in three different schools regarded as UKM’s Faculty of Education partners: Sekolah Khusus Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kantan, Sekolah Inklusi SMK Sultan Abdul Azis Shah, and Sekolah Khusus SMK Jalan Reko. All of them are located in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Joko Nurkamto, the Dean of FKIP UNS, added that since 2016, FKIP UNS had sent 24 students to participate in International PPL abroad and received nine scholarships from abroad.
“On August 2017, FKIP UNS will conduct another selection for 16 PPL International participant candidates and receive 16 students from abroad,” said Joko. humas-red.uns/Isn/Hfz/Eln
