The event was organized virtually through the @arteducare Instagram account. The event was postponed due to the 2020 pandemic.
Philipus Diko Sukmo Wibowo acting as the Chair of the 11th Art Edu Care Committee, explains that the event was scheduled for March 2020. “The 11th Art Edu Care was supposed to be held on last March 2020. The preparation was stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic, thus this year we are back with a theme ‘Humanities: A New Relation’,” explains Diko to the uns.ac.id team, Saturday (2/1/2021).
This year Art Edu Care is different from the previous one. This time, visitors who wish to view artists’ excellent creations do not need to come directly to the exhibition place. To do so they can access @arteducare Instagram through their smartphone. “We involve artists who are engaged in digital works, this includes artists who match certain categories, such as video art from Yuan Alfasa, artist talk from Tell Company, Sutboi, and digital live drawing from Iannocent,” Diko states.
Even though conducted virtually, the Art Edu Care exhibition receives great enthusiasm from the community. This enthusiasm is proven through the number of likes received in @arteducare with more than 100 likes on average. Likewise, the followers of @arteducare Instagram, based on uns.ac.ic monitoring, on Sunday (3/1/2021) at 11.46 WIB has reached 3,074 followers. Even though the exhibition was considered a success, Diko admits that there is an internet connection problem, which affects the exhibition.
During the preparation, Diko reveals that he experienced many joys and sorrow. “There are many joy and sorrows in this year Art Edu Care, during the pandemic time, we are not the only one affected, there are many others who feel the same or even worse. This becomes a valuable lesson for all of us, both for the community and individuals. I am proud, because at the beginning of a new year, despite the everlasting trauma for the committee due to the postponement. However, with the support from our colleagues, lecturers, and community, we can overcome the great problems and it motivates us to establish a stronger Art Edu Care spirit,” Diko explains.
