UNS – In conjunction to strengthen silaturahim (the bond of friendship), as well as one of the series programs of Ramadan Campus Fair, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a Breaking the Fast Together with 1,000 Orphans and Underprivileged People on Sunday (05/26/2019) at UNS Student Center.
The event was attended by the academic community of UNS, Leader of alms institution (Lazis) UNS, children from Quran Learning Center (TPA) around UNS campus, children of Smart Children House (RAP), as well as orphans and poor people around UNS.
According to Tasya, coordinator of the event, it was not just attended by 1.000 orphans but more than that, reported 1.190 orphans and poor people attended this event.
“This is a routine event organized by Lazis UNS with more than 100 Lazis UNS volunteers as the committees, which has a purpose to establish friendship between institutions of Lazis UNS and the UNS campus,” said Tasya.
This breaking-of-the-fast event ran in a friendly atmosphere and invited Rahmad Junaedy, a storyteller and national trainer who told Islamic stories for children. Then it followed by distributing gifts which were donations from Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), and Universitas Islam Batik (UNIBA) Surakarta for the children, in the form of sarong and head-to-toe prayer gown.
Leader 2 of Lazis UNS, Usman Sudarmaji, S.E, M.Acc, expressed his gratitude and bliss for the arrangement of this event.
This event was also attended by Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho who highly appreciated Lazis UNS for taking a part in nurturing the orphanage children in religious and knowledge education.
“I hope that with this nurturing program for orphans and disadvantaged people, can encourage them to achieve and continue their education in the higher level,” concluded Prof. Jamal then continued with the breaking the fast together. Humas UNS/Isna/Try
