UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho inaugurated 10,105 new students for the academic year of 2020/2021. The inauguration was held between the Campus Life Introduction Program for New Students (Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Mahasiswa Baru – PKKMB) UNS on Monday (14/9/2020) through Zoom Meeting and live stream in Universitas Sebelas Maret YouTube channel.
On the occasion, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho invited all new students to plan their excellent works after being officially inaugurated as the new student of UNS for the Academic Year of 2020/2021. Prof. Jamal congratulated all new students who have been accepted in UNS. “To new students who I am proud of, I welcome you to an era full of changes. Change in meaning, change in value, and change in civilization,” Prof. Jamal explained.
Prof. Jamal reminded that this era looks for people who work hard, innovate, and work promptly. Prof. Jamal also hopes that the new students can use all valuable opportunities to plan an excellent work that will benefit the community. He also reminded the students to join online courses to keep in touch with the academic atmosphere. Students are required to acquire new skills, the adaptability in using information technology and social and emotional intelligence. Concluding his speech, Prof. Jamal underlies that education is not only about the transfer of knowledge but also developing skills.
PKKMB UNS 2020 is held for three days, from 14 to 16 September. The PKKMB is joined by all new students in UNS; 2,390 students in the Diploma program, 6,975 students in the undergraduate program, 580 students from Master program, and 160 students from the Doctoral program. In the first PKKMB day, students followed various activities from the inauguration, a remark from Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Prof. Mahfud MD, Director General of Higher Education Kemendikbud, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph and a motivational speech from UNS executives. Humas UNS
