UNS — The series of Campus Life Introduction for New Students (Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru – PKKMB) Mahasura Muda Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta in 2020 was officially closed, Sunday (20/9/2020).
In PKKMB closing, Mahasura Muda UNS 2020 broadcasted through Zoom Cloud Meeting and UNS official YouTube channel was attended by the Rector of UNS Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs UNS Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, dean from each faculty, Chief of Students and Alumni Bureau UNS Rohman Agus Pratomo, and Deputy of Public Relation (Humas) UNS Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto. Prof. Jamal in his remark welcomed the new students to UNS in 2020. He stated that UNS new students are the winning generation who would be prepared as future leaders of the nation.
“Dear our bright students, you are selected and won the competition amid the pandemic and at least, you fight to win the competition in new students’ selection, through SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and Independent Selection (SM). I am sure that the future leaders who were accepted as new students today will create many works, both at the local regions and throughout Indonesia,” Prof. Jamal stated.
He also thanked the PKKMB Mahasura Muda UNS 2020 managing committee and Student Executive Board (BEM) UNS who have managed the event well. On this occasion, the Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, also conveyed his hopes for UNS new students 2020. He wished that New Students in UNS can become an agent of change who will become the future leader of Indonesia. To be a future leader, according to Prof. Kuncoro cannot be separated from the commitment as students to learn. For him, academic competence provided by UNS needs to be continuously improved so that after they graduated, alumni UNS can work and devote themselves to the community. “UNS New Students must always have the enthusiasm to work, to create, and be creative for Indonesia and UNS.”
Led by UNS Campus Ambassador, Mutiara Maya and Marcelino Tedjo, several interesting events were provided by PKKMB Mahasura Muda UNS 2020 committee, such as traditional dance, the introduction of local region community (Komda), and recitation of prayer in 6 religions. On this occasion, UNS through PKKMB Mahasura Muda 2020 committee broke the record for paper MOB configuration by 4,500 students.
The record-breaking was witnessed by the Senior Manager Indonesian World Records Museum (Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia – MURI), Sri Widyawati. After the event, Sri Widyawati stated that paper MOB configuration in PKKMB Mahasura Muda UNS 2020 is a configuration with the largest participants which previously held by the Engineering Faculty (FT) Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) with a total of 1,000 students.
