UNS – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, welcomes the new students for the Specialist Medical Education Program (Program Pendidikan Dokter Spesialis-PPDS) on Friday (07/07/2020) in Ruang Sidang II, dr. Prakosa UNS Rectorate Building. In total 90 new students were inaugurated by the Rector of UNS, represented by the Vice-Rector in Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus. Of the total 90 students, one of them is a student from an adaptation specialist program, which graduated from abroad university.
The Executive Secretary of UNS New Student Admission Selection (Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru-SPMB UNS), Prof. Hadi Wiyono, mentioned that this year UNS opens 14 study programs for a medical specialist with 357 applicants who follow the selection process.
“The study programs in UNS are Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Surgery, and Pediatrics. The admission selection process is conducted in two stages until finally the registrant is declared as qualified and is accepted. The new students for this period will start their study in February 2020,” Prof. Hadi Wiyono explained.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, congratulate the new students that passed the selection and accepted as the new students in PPDS FK UNS.
“We entrust the new students to the Dean and Faculty members thus they can study well, and they can contribute to Indonesia and the International Community,” Prof. Yunus said.
Afterward, Prof. Yunus symbolically hands-over the PPDS new students to the Dean of FK UNS, Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P (K). Dr. Reviono conveys to the new PPDS students to adapt to UNS. This was mentioned as the journey they take in Specialist Education is not easy. This education is different from the normal lecture as this program demands a professional result, thus the students will conduct more field practices. The UNS itself has a Rumah Sakit Pendidikan to support this program.
“Because the students of PPDS come from the various regions in Indonesia, naturally they have their own customs. We hope that they can adapt to UNS culture immediately,” advised Dr. Reviono. Humas UNS/Ratri
