UNS – The Study Program of Regional Department, Faculty of Cultural Science (FIB), University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta rolled out Class of Student`s Drama Stage 2019 held in Building 1 FIB UNS on Monday (12/16/2019).
The lecturer for the subject of drama study, Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, mentioned that there were 62 fifth semester students playing four plays with the tittle Smear Mendem, Kalap Karang Wirang, Kacamata Ireng, and Nandang Tangis.
The program is the output of the subject of Javanese Drama Study. This yearly program aims to search for qualiexcellent seeds in the stage. Moreover, it is also considered as the first step of the requirements to be joining the Javanese Drama Group of FIB named Wiswakarman. It attains the age of 30 and is still standing as the only Javanese Drama Group in Surakarta until now.
“We expected from this program that we can receive positive response from any sides to always support our theatre performance continuously. Regarding this show, there are four plays that each takes 20 minutes maximally,” Prof. Sahid explained.
Meanwhile, one of the students, Kukuh Setia Widodo added that the examination of the subject is compulsory in the fifth semester.
“So, the students from the fifth semester are highly entrusted to play the drama and the students from other semesters enthusiastically welcome this drama stage. By rolling out this performance we the students we can feel not only the experience in the stage and being watched by our friends but also the feeling of behind the stage such as the makeup and the props of the drama,” Kukuh mentioned.
