UNS – Ravik Karsidi, the rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta inaugurated a five-storeyed building in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) on Tuesday (07/02/2017). The building, consisting of a hall, an integrated laboratory, and meeting rooms, brings a different concept.
The building construction was finished in 2016 and is equipped with a big videotron in the hall. The videotron is expected to provide efficiency for events and activities in the faculty so backdrop is no longer needed.
“I appreciate the heads of faculty for the initiative to build a great hall with complete facilities. Moreover, the videotron itself is the first one in UNS, hopefully it can be followed by more faculties in future,” said Ravik.
Dean of the Faculty, Ari Handono, said that the hall has a capacity of 600 people and was designed as a multi-function room – it can be used for lectures, discussion, and seminar. The design can make the hall partitioned into ten rooms.
“The hall was built using a multi-functional concept for space efficiency. It can be partitioned into ten rooms for teaching and learning activities when not in use for seminars or other activities. Therefore, the use of space can be effective and efficient, “he said.
Furthermore, within a period of 2 or 3 years from now the faculty is planning to create educational laboratories and research laboratories as an eleven-storeyed building. (Humas FMIPA/Herlangga Hizkiawan/Sav)
