UNS – Considering the high probability of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the housing complex and residents’ activity place, the Execution Coordination Board (Badan Koordinasi Pelaksana-Bakorlak) Search and Rescue (SAR), the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a cleaning on Sunday (22/3/2020). The cleaning by SAR UNS was conducted in two different locations namely SMPN 5 Surakarta and Yayasan Al Kahfi, Mojosongo Sub-District, Surakarta.

Mojosongo becomes the location of the cleaning by Bakorlak SAR UNS because the Sub-District currently under the watch of the City Government of Surakarta related to the spread of Covid-19. This was caused by the discovery of a positive Covid-19 patient in Mojosongo. Moreover, 17 houses in the Mojosongo area currently are isolated due to an undisciplined Individual Under Monitoring (Orang Dalam Pemantauan-ODP) in the Covid-19 case during their self-quarantine period.

The cleaning conducted by the Bakorlak SAR UNS become an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“This is just an effort from Bakorlak SAR UNS to join the fight against coronavirus through a cleaning activity. This activity is also an instruction from the mayor, but we are divided into several teams,” said one of the Bakorlak SAR UNS member, Al Ayyubi.

In the implementation, Ayub explained that during the cleaning process, the Bakorlak SAR UNS deploys 7 personnel supported with 1 car as a fleet. The personnel of Bakorlak SAR UNS is certainly equipped with supporting equipment such as 2 sets of a disinfectant sprayer and personal protective equipment. When arrived in the location, the Bakorlak SAR UNS personnel are immediately put on their personal protective equipment and started to spray disinfectant on each room.

The operation was started at 09.00 WIB until the finish. There is 7 personnel and the operation was conducted consecutively with one commando. The personnel was divided into several SRU with their respective duties such as field team, logistic, and documentation. This activity went smoothly and certainly, each member is given logistical support and vitamin,” he added.

When asked about the sustainability of this cleaning activity, Ayub mentioned that he and his colleagues will always carry-out this activity along with other joint personnel such as SAR KREST, PDAM, Agriculture Office, KPP, firefighters, and TNI/Polri.

In the future, Ayub also mentioned that Bakorlak SAR UNS will conduct an activity to educate the community on the prevention of Covid-19 and he also expects that the step taken by Bakorlak SAR UNS will be supported by many parties. Humas UNS/Yefta
