UNS – To strengthen the solidarity among the universities under the Association of Indonesia Mandarin Studies Program (APSMI), APSMI held an international seminar titled “The Role Chinese Language Literature and Culture in Diversity of Republic Indonesia” in UNS Inn, Wednesday (07/11/2019). This year, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta was the host of the third National Meeting (Munas) of APSMI.
The APSMI international seminar was one of the events in the APSMI Munas on Thursday (07/11/2019). Some of the APSMI members attended this seminar, such as Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Kristen Indonesia, Universitas Al-Azhar, and Universitas Kristen Maranatha.
Vice Rector I of UNS, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, opened this seminar. In his speech, he said that UNS as a university, had some concerns about languages learning and development, one of them was Mandarin.
“We have several numbers of language departments in UNS, specifically in Faculty of Cultural Science, namely, English, Arabic, Javanese, and Mandarin. As well as Japanese, German, and French in the UNS Language Center,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the chairman of APSMI, Herman, B. Ed., MTCSOL., also attended the seminar. He praised the increasing number of universities as the members of APSMI. He also expected that in the future, APSMI would not only become the unifying forum for universities member of APSMI, but the existence of APSMI could be a solution of problems when learning Mandarin in Indonesia.
